A Life Worth Recording
Some people keep journals to remember extraordinary days.
I began keeping mine because ordinary days have a way of disappearing unless someone remembers them.
A morning spent tending the garden.
A loaf of bread shared around the kitchen table.
A chapter read beneath a juniper tree while the dogs wandered nearby.
A home slowly shaped by our own hands.
These moments rarely make headlines, yet they become the quiet foundation of a meaningful life.
The Living Ledger is my attempt to keep account of them.
Why a Ledger?
A ledger usually records transactions.
This one records attention.
It keeps account of gardens planted before they bloom, meals prepared without celebration, books that change the way I think, projects that unfold over months, and the quiet habits that slowly shape a life.
I don't believe a meaningful life is built from milestones alone.
I believe it is built from ordinary days lived with intention.
Who I Am
My name is Clarissa.
I live in New Mexico with my husband and our wonderfully chaotic collection of dogs, plants, and ongoing projects.
By day, I work in higher education and wellness. Outside of work, you'll usually find me reading, gardening, cooking, working out, renovating our home, or writing.
Most often, though, you'll find me doing my favorite thing—
watching the earth live.
Watching the seasons change.
Watching seeds become gardens.
Watching homes slowly become places of belonging.
Watching people—and myself—grow a little at a time.
What You'll Find Here
The Living Ledger follows the seasons of an ordinary life.
You'll find stories about
Learning to notice the beauty in ordinary days.
Building a personal canon for a lifelong home library.
Renovating an old New Mexico home, one project at a time.
Figuring out how to be an adult in my thirties.
Simple meals shared around the table.
Wellness without perfection.
Dogs, wildlife, gardens, and quiet mornings.
Lessons gathered slowly over time.
No perfect routines.
No pretending to have everything figured out.
Only honest pages from a life that is still being written.
An Invitation
If any of this feels familiar, I hope you'll stay awhile.
Read a story.
Make a cup of coffee.
Watch the seasons change with me.
Come back when a new entry appears.
After all, every life leaves a record.
This one is simply mine.
